A third edition of the Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festival, aspiring to lay the professional rules which we have committed ourselves since the first edition. To emphasize on the cultural dialogue among civilizations in order to accommodate them, and know each other through the art of cinema, which is the dialogue we hope to expand in the future to shift from Egyptian European dialogue to an Arab European dialogue which the world is in desperate need for in the current time. The audience attending this year’s festival will notice the world the great progress in the level of films though using the latest expertise in production and the fully equipped showrooms, as well as the high level of films offered which displays the best European and Egyptian films which were produced during 2014, in addition to a number of seminars and Q&As to emphasize the festival’s cultural character, which is not far just about any other forms of exhibition imagined which includes charm, and the appearance of their stars , but it is celebrating mainly cinema as
art and culture and seeks to spread throughout Egypt. We believe that Luxor with its history and unique heritage is the most qualified city in the world to host such an important cultural event, which seeks to develop year after year and cycle after cycle of this festival to live up to the city’s level, and therefore no other city could ever replace it. A new edition full of hope in the evolution and development of the festival and cinema, which we celebrate with all available means and the ones which will be available in the near future, together we can expand the dialogue between cultures and civilizations of the Egyptian nation and the European one, hoping that the lights of cinema can once again feed our hearts and souls. Get ready for dialogue between cultures and civilizations...

 PRESIDENT the festival/ Magda Muries

This edition, which is dedicated to the beautiful Faten Hamama, who passed away a few days ago, is a new turn in the Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festival, despite the obstacles encountered on the level of lack of funding, however, it is a step forward on several levels. Perhaps most notable is the festival's opening film “The Wife of the pharoah”, for one of the most important filmmakers in the world, the great German director Ernst Lubitcsh (1892-1947), which is the last German film of his before emigrating to the United States of America. The film has been assembled, restored and returned back to life again in the year 2011.
The bigger wish for Ernst Lubitsch was certainly that this film would be shown not only in the city of Luxor which the film takes place, but rather in one of the most
famous temples which is Luxor Temple, which is a response not only to his wish but a response to cinema lovers and makers all around the world. The second event in the festival would be embracing this edition to honor French cinema represented by the four major sections which are; the French new wave films, a tribute to Yves Boisset which the festival tributes this year, and is honored to have as the head of the jury, new French feminine cinema, and French animation. Which is a change to our Festival tradition since the 1st edition. The festival also celebrates Egyptian cinema this year, which the residents of Luxor might not have gotten a chance to watch, because of the lack of cinemas in the city. In addition to offer to the people of Luxor and the surrounding villages a great selection of Arabic films from different Arab countries, which is important for the dialogue between the Egyptian and European cinema.
The important step that the festival takes this year is represented in the development of the means to offer the best processing showrooms and a CB digital system, Because, we believe that celebrating films and cinema should be viewed through the most updated technologies and techniques. A step forward in the long road we have started since the first edition and will continue with same passion each session of the Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festival.
